What Life Is All About
The real you is the soul
We spend the vast majority of our time feeding, clothing, housing, and entertaining the body. But the body is a temporary vehicle. The real you — the part that will survive death and face its Lord — is the soul. When the soul is neglected, no amount of material comfort can fill the void.
How to nourish the soul
God has given us a complete program for spiritual growth. The five daily Contact Prayers (Salat) are scheduled meetings with our Creator. Fasting teaches discipline and self-control. Charity loosens the grip of greed. Truthful living is the daily vitamin of the soul. And constant remembrance of God — 'There is no god except God' — keeps the soul oriented toward its source.
Understanding God
God is the sole Creator and Designer of everything — transcendent beyond all creation. God needs no partners, no intermediaries, no helpers. Worship belongs exclusively to God. And yet God is near, hearing every prayer, aware of every thought. This relationship — direct, unmediated, intimate — is what life is all about.
Practical steps this week
Maintain your prayer consistency. Perform one act of charity. Purify your speech. Establish a daily practice of remembrance. Repair a broken relationship. Practice patience in difficulty. Cultivate gratitude in ease. These are not abstract ideals — they are the daily work of growing your soul.
