Zakat & Sadaqah

Sadaqah (Voluntary Charity)

Any voluntary donation given for God's sake is sadaqah. It purifies wealth and earns reward both in this life and the next. The Quran mentions: "God will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity." (2:276)

Zakat (Obligatory Charity)

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam — an obligatory 2.5% annual donation on qualifying wealth. Masjid accepts and distributes Zakat to eligible recipients in the Los Angeles community according to Quranic guidelines (9:60).
